Welcome to Keeping Solution Focused

Hi, I'm Betty and I'm so glad you're here.

I created Keeping Solution Focused because I believe that everyone deserves to feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of their own life. And more importantly, I believe that change is absolutely possible, even if you've tried other things before, even if you've been struggling for a long time, and even if you're not quite sure where to start.

So let me introduce myself properly, and tell you a little about what I do and why I do it.

Who Am I?

I'm a qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, having completed my accredited Diploma at the highly regarded Clifton Hypnotherapy Practice. This involved over 450 hours of study combining neuroscience, psychotherapy, and hands-on practice. I'm fully insured, hold an Enhanced DBS check, and I'm committed to the professional standards of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).

I also hold a Level 4 Certificate in Counselling Skills, a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training, and more than 15 years' experience supporting people across Further and Higher Education and the charity sector.

But here's what matters most: I genuinely love helping people understand how their brains work and how to use that knowledge to create real, lasting change.

What Is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern, evidence-based approach that combines the best of psychotherapy with the deeply relaxing state of hypnosis. Rather than exploring painful memories or dwelling on what's gone wrong, it gently shifts your attention forward, helping you identify what you want and supporting your brain in building new, healthier patterns.

It's grounded in neuroscience. Every session is designed to work with the way your brain naturally functions, making it not just relaxing, but genuinely effective.

People come to me for all kinds of reasons:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

  • Sleep problems

  • Low confidence or self-esteem

  • Phobias and fears

  • Habits they want to break (smoking, overeating, nail biting)

  • Wanting to feel more like themselves again

What Can You Expect?

Every session is a safe, warm, and completely judgement-free space. We'll start by talking, exploring where you are now and where you'd like to be. Then, in the second part of each session, I'll guide you into a beautifully relaxed state of hypnosis, using positive language to support the changes you want to make.

You're always in full control. Hypnosis is nothing like what you might have seen on TV. It's simply a focused, peaceful state of mind where your brain is most open to positive change.
